Bethesda announced today that their first mobile game in the Fallout universe, Fallout Shelter, has become the #1 downloaded game in 48 countries and the top downloaded app of any kind in 25 countries following its release on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
“We play games on our phones all the time, and have always wanted to make one,” said Todd Howard, Game Director at Bethesda Game Studios. “To have our first mobile game be enjoyed by so many is stunning. It just shows that gamers appreciate more depth and being treated fairly. It also shows people love Fallout as much as we do.”
They went on to say that in the first week following its release, play sessions of Fallout Shelter have surpassed 70 million times a day by fans globally.
That’s a lot of Fallout on the go.
While mobile games aren’t my jam, Fallout 4 is shaping up to be the Fallout game that I might actually play for more than three hours and enjoy. I guess we’ll see how that goes later this year.
