Awesome casting news to report today!

The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal is going to play Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, in the second season of Daredevil on Netlfix. For those who don’t know, The Punisher is another vigilante who patrols the streets of New York City and Hell’s Kitchen in particular. Unlike Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil, The Punisher’s tactics tend to leave a lot more people on the dead side of things.

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb said, “Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences. Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

Bernthal did a great job portraying an unhinged Shane on The Walking Dead and seems like a great choice to play Frank Castle. Remember, just like ABC’s Agents of Shield, Netflix’s stable of Marvel shows are officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So if Frank Castle ends up showing up in Captain America: Civil War or future movies for the company, Bernthal will also be that man.
