Today there are emails going out from the Microsoft Store to customers advertising a $100 trade-in credit for a PS3.
The system will have to be in full working condition and include any original cables and at least one controller to receive the full credit. An Xbox ONE must be purchased during the same transaction to receive the full credit as well.
While its common for a retailer like Gamestop to run similar promotions during a system’s launch, it seems a little weird that a brand-specific retailer store would be accepting trade-ins of a competitor’s system. I’m not exactly sure what the Microsoft Store intends to do with these traded-in PS3s once they have them. The attached picture above does say “recycle” so take that how you will.
What do you guys think about this move? Is this a smart decision by Microsoft or a desperate effort to boost sales? Let us know in the comments below.
